About me

I am an ABD PhD Candidate in Media Studies at Rutgers University.  My research is situated in the fields of Media, Culture, Gender, and Affect studies, with particular focus on sad affects in popular culture and on social media. The working title of my dissertation is “Sad Affects and Contemporary Women’s Media: Depression, Anxiety, and Neoliberal Postfeminism in the Post-Recessionary West.”

During the 2019-2020 academic year I am supported by an American Dissertation Fellowship from the AAUW.

In 2013, I graduated from the MA program in Media, Culture, Communication at New York University, which culminated in the MA thesis “Tumblr Feminism – Third-Wave Subjectivities in Practice,” written under the advisement of Laura Portwood-Stacer.
